In Visual Arts this term, Year 5 have been exploring portraits. We have looked at artworks by a number of famous artists as well those done by less well known artists.
Year 5 had the opportunity to visit the Adelaide Perry exhibition at The Croydon, which showcases the finalist drawings. Adelaide Perry was a visual arts teacher at PLC and promotes the importance of drawing and the education of young artists. It gives opportunities for practicing artists to exhibit heir work. Over 400 works were submitted for entry into the prestigious competition and was judged by Mr Edmund Capton who was a director at the Art Gallery of NSW.
Many artists used a number of different techniques and mediums to convey their message or feelings.
We chose a drawing which we could relate to and sketched the drawing in our art sketch books.
The visit to the exhibition gave us some good ideas for our own artworks.
The Adelaide Perry prize for drawing exhibition is open from 1 March - 28 March
Weekdays 8.30am- 4.00pm
Saturdays 11am - 4.00pm
